Winter 2024 Newsletter
Aloha,
As we reflect on the work of this past year, here are some highlights of the impact we’ve made with your support.
Our Pūlama nā ‘Ohana team was created in response to the Lahaina wildfire disaster to deliver outreach and support services by working directly with affected individuals and families. Our team made significant impacts by meeting immediate needs of survivors, using a culturally appropriate approach, and readily evolving to meet changing needs.
During the last year:
- At least 1,400 individuals were provided with emotional support and mental health-related services.
- Over 500 individuals received Care Coordination and Case Management Services.
- Almost 500 families received help with FEMA and Red Cross applications and documents.
- More than 2,200 youth and their families participated in engaging and supportive activities.
We learned a lot through this work, and will expand upon these services with some exciting plans for 2025.
We’ll continue to provide outreach and services for those directly and indirectly affected by the wildfire disaster. Staff at Malama Family Recovery Center will work with moms and families, and Aloha House continues to provide behavioral health support and outreach.
Cultural practitioners and whole-body wellness providers are incorporating their work with behavioral health treatments in our programs.
A new housing initiative at Maui Youth & Family Services will provide more shelter for youth in high-risk, high-needs situations.
You play a crucial role in addressing the critical need for substance use and mental health services here on Maui. As Maui’s only comprehensive, non-profit behavioral health provider, we are committed to providing life-changing support to those in need. Please join us in this commitment by making a gift today.
Sincerely,

Nicole Hokoana, CEO
