The Maui Chamber of Commerce awarded Maui Youth & Family Services the Mayor’s Small Business Award for Outstanding Non-Profit at a virtual ceremony held December 8, 2020.
“This is a real honor,” said CEO Jud Cunningham. “I’m pleased to accept this award on behalf of our very dedicated staff and the clients we serve.”
The Mayor’s Small Business Awards recognize outstanding Maui businesses, both for profit and non-profit, with fewer than 100 employees.
MYFS was recognized for its ability to adapt during the pandemic, continuing to provide services for youth through telehealth platforms, online “meet ups,” and a weekly eNewsletter, in order to stay in touch with young people when they were unable to conduct in-person programs.
Through these changes, the staff stayed focused on staying connected with at-risk youth clients, offered engaging content, and remained available for clients in any way that they could.
The County of Maui and the Office of Economic Development supported the event along with sponsors American Savings Bank, First Hawaiian Bank, Hawaiian Electric Company, HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union and HMSA.
