Maui Behavioral Health Resources announced the addition of two new board members following an installation ceremony at their annual meeting on June 22, 2023. Read the full story in Maui Now.
New Board Members and Officers
David Jenkins and Dr. David Abelson have joined MBHR’s board of directors. Jenkins, a longtime supporter, aims to leverage his business management experience to support MBHR’s staff. Dr. Abelson, a physician with the Maui VA Clinic, hopes to collaborate with the board to address the community’s mental health, substance abuse, and primary care access needs.
Leadership Transitions
MBHR has also installed new officers on its board:
- Brian Moto, Esq. will serve as Treasurer
- Maren McBarnet will serve as Secretary
Kelli Myers will continue as President and Dr. Lauri Calkins as Vice President. These changes took effect on July 1, 2023, marking the start of MBHR’s fiscal year. Outgoing board members Karen Temple, Esq. and Bill Oldham were recognized for their invaluable service by retiring CEO Jud Cunningham.
