Blessing Ceremony to Mark the Opening of the New Dormitory
The new five-bedroom dormitory will house 12 people and increase the facility’s capacity by 25-percent. The expansion comes as officials report surging substance use and mental health challenges across Maui in the aftermath of the devastating fires 2023 wildfires.
“This dormitory will provide safe, supportive spaces for 12 individuals, allowing us to expand care for those most vulnerable in our community, people struggling with addiction, mental health challenges, and homelessness,” said Nicole Hokoana, Aloha House CEO. “Half of the population we serve here at Aloha House are homeless.”
Strenthening the Wellbeing of Our Community
The Aloha House upcountry campus is unlike any other in the state. It offers a detox center, evidence-based therapies and personalized recovery plans, providing what officials describe as a full continuum of mental health and substance use treatment.
The new dormitory is designed for extended stays, as longer treatment periods typically produce better outcomes in recovery.
