Aloha,

Our own Spring Taylor, a Program Assistant at Aloha House, was a featured presenter at the Maui United Way annual meeting at the end of June. Her story of trauma as a child, and her subsequent substance use, near death, and then recovery, was an inspiration to all.

It’s a reminder that recovery IS possible, and lives can be transformed, and saved, through treatment.

Aloha House was also invited to participate in International Overdose Awareness Day, celebrated on August 31st.

At the kickoff event in Makawao, Aloha House Program Director Keturah Stone talked about the importance of meeting people where they are, determining their needs, and how Aloha House programs can best help them. Saving lives by preventing overdose is something our staff are called to do every day.

Agency Spotlight: Aloha House

As Maui’s only licensed residential substance use treatment provider, Aloha House provides a continuum of care for all aspects of recovery, from initial outreach through outpatient services.

Aloha House serves over 5,000 people each year, providing crisis outreach and recovery, medically monitored detox, substance use treatment, counseling, therapy, outpatient treatment, and sober living homes.

These programs make it possible for people to change their lives. Participants re-discover their strengths, learn from their experiences and create new pathways forward in health and wellness. Drugs and alcohol affect people differently, and staff work with each person to create their own individualized treatment plan.

Addiction is a disease that impacts the mind, body, spirit, and threatens relationships among family members and friends.

When we help participants end their abuse or dependence on drugs or alcohol, we help them face a myriad of challenges related to their personal health, relationships, home and work life.

Often, going back out into the world isn’t easy, and Aloha House helps with ongoing sober support, allowing each person to move forward in their transformation and live their best lives.

We appreciate your support.
