FAQs About Aloha House

At Aloha House, we take an individualized, evidence-based approach to treating substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Our full continuum of care includes medically supervised detox, residential treatment, intensive outpatient programs, sober living facilities, and counseling services.

We start by carefully evaluating your unique situation and needs, as addiction impacts everyone differently. Our team, including counselors, psychologists, and doctors, will work closely with you (and loved ones if you wish) to understand your background and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Through individual, group, and family therapy sessions, you’ll find a supportive community to share experiences, learn coping strategies, rebuild relationships, and break the cycles of addictive behavior. Our integrated treatment philosophy allows us to monitor your progress and adjust your plan as needed continuously, whether that means stepping up or down through our levels of care.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive, compassionate care that treats you holistically and prepares you for lasting sobriety through aftercare resources and coordination with community partners.

At Aloha House, we understand that detox can sound daunting, but you don’t have to go through it alone here. Caring professionals will be by your side every step of the way.

Most people stay for 5-7 days to allow their body and mind to stabilize. We’ll provide any needed medication and 24/7 nursing care to keep you as comfortable as possible. You’ll have a safe space to rest and recover, with meals prepared for you so you can focus on healing.

Our residential program provides a safe, structured living environment where you can focus fully on your recovery journey. The average inpatient stay is 4 to 6 weeks, though the length varies based on your needs and progress.

Daily schedules include gender-specific group sessions, individual counseling, and life skills classes covering topics like cognitive behavioral therapy, relationships, parenting, and more. As part of our holistic, mind-body approach, you may also participate in 12-step meetings and recreational activities like beach trips, sports, and outdoor excursions.

With 24/7 support and three healthy meals provided daily on our beautiful upcountry Maui campus, you can step back from everyday pressures and stressors to develop essential coping tools and discover a renewed sense of purpose.

This program provides one-on-one and group counseling in person and through telehealth.

We believe family involvement and support can be crucial to achieving long-term sobriety after addiction or substance abuse. You’ll have the option to include loved ones in certain aspects of your treatment program, such as:

  • Family therapy sessions
  • Input during treatment planning
  • Education on addiction and recovery
  • Joining a family support group or Alanon

However, this is only possible once you provide consent by signing release forms. Your privacy is protected, and treatment details will only be shared with approved family members. If you prefer, you may also choose to go through recovery without family participation.

The path to healing is different for everyone. Our compassionate team will work closely with you and your loved ones (if desired) to determine the appropriate level of family involvement.

Transitional housing with a community of peers committed to lasting recovery is available to those who qualify. Each house offers private or shared bedroom options and common areas perfect for building friendships and accountability. These unique living spaces allow you to gain independence while benefiting from a strong sober support network. Surrounding yourself with others on the same path makes the journey to a fully self-sufficient life much easier.

Don’t let worries about costs create a roadblock to getting the care you need. We accept most major insurance plans to cover treatment. And if you don’t have coverage, you may qualify for free treatment funded through grants. Our admissions team will be happy to go over all the options with you in a pressure-free, judgment-free conversation.

"The biggest impact Aloha House has made is not just from the classes and the techniques, but the staff supporting us. Many of them have been through what I’ve been through, so they understand."
