MBHR Leadership Team

MBHR Board of Directors

Lauri Calkins, PhD — Board President

“My training as a clinical psychologist aids my usefulness to the organization in using listening skills and my clinical experience to help with problem-solving.  I am also committed to providing mental health services for those in need.”

Brian Moto, Esq. — Board Vice President

“As a lawyer, former county official, UH administrator, and nonprofit volunteer, I am happy and privileged to do all I can to support the important and life-changing work of Maui Behavioral Heath Resources.”

Mason Williams — Board Treasurer

“My experience as CEO of a large insurance brokerage firm in Hawaii helps me ensure MBHR runs like the successful business it is. My additional experience leading a large non-profit, coupled with my service on multiple boards, allows me to share insights that help MBHR’s board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.”

David Abelson, MD — Board Secretary

“My years of experience in family medicine and my current medical doctor position serving our Maui veterans (experiencing various physical, social, and mental health issues) equip me with skills needed to contribute positively and compassionately to MBHR.”

Heidi-Ann Allencastre

“I work in the human services field, helping families thrive instead of just survive. My life experiences and passion drive me to help individuals on their path to healing and recovery so they can become the best versions of themselves for their keiki and ʻohana. I am honored to be a part of MBHR, which does just that for our community.”

David Jenkins

“My experience running an international marketing information company allows me to provide advice and recommendations in management and organizational strategy to MBHR’s professionals.”

Randol Leach

Maren McBarnet

“As a longtime board member and former teacher, I bring experience and a historical perspective to the organization.”

Kelli Myers

Bonnie West-Baker
“As a former banker for over 30 years, I can be helpful with an organization such as MBHR. On a personal note, I have always advocated for all the wonderful programs MBHR provides.”

"I didn’t get the help I needed in any of the foster homes until I was in a Maui Youth & Family Services program home. I was in a really good foster home for the first time. I was 17 by then."
