Malama Family Recovery Center presents “Magic Under the Stars” on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 5-9pm at a private estate in Kula. Attendees will soak in sweeping views of Maui and the Pacific Ocean and enjoy exciting live entertainment and delectable cuisine, all while supporting Maui nonprofit Malama Family Recovery Center, which provides caring, holistic substance abuse treatment to women and children so families can live safe, independent and healthy lives.
Former professional magician at the private Boca Raton Resort and Club in Florida and long-time Malama supporter, Tom Gaddis, will dazzle the audience with comedy magic. “I strongly believe in the work that Malama does and am excited to bring my passion for performing magic to Maui to help raise funds for the women, children and families the organization serves.”
Malama is Maui’s only women-specific addiction treatment center and the only place on the island where babies and young children can live with their mothers while they get help. “This event will help us combine comprehensive and effective addiction treatment with activities that strengthen mother-child/baby bonding and increase attentive parenting practices in order to improve and support the entire family’s well-being,” said Dr. Lisa Ponichtera, Malama’s Clinical Director. Arlie-Avery Asiu, 2017 and 2018 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Finalist for ‘Ukulele Album of the Year, will also perform.
The event is sponsored by Morgan Stanley — Peter Backus & David Toyomura, A la Minute Events, American Savings Bank, GW Construction of Maui, Central Pacific Bank and Hands Off Media. Tickets are $125 each and only 100 are available.
