December 16, 2012 — Free Smoothie Cards an Incentive For Adolescents

Jamba Juice Hawaii is partnering with Maui Youth & Family Services to provide 1,800 free smoothie cards in 2013 as incentives to adolescents who successfully participate in the nonprofit’s prevention and outpatient programs. As part of Jamba’s commitment, each month the company will provide 150 $5 coupons, each redeemable for a 16-ounce smoothie.

Maui Youth & Family Services works with adolescents and families affected by addiction, substance abuse and mental health-related issues.

Gift cards, which will be accepted at all four Maui Jamba Juice locations as well as locations across the state (excluding the UH-Manoa location), are awarded to students who participate in the prevention program and who perform well academically and engage in community service, and to adolescents in the outpatient program who do not miss any treatment sessions within a given week and who show measurable progress throughout their time in the program.

Although Maui Youth & Family Services has purchased and distributed Jamba Juice coupons in the past, this is the first time that the company has offered to donate the gift cards.

“We believe that the mission of Maui Youth & Family Services is extremely well-matched with our commitment to health, fitness and nutrition, with an emphasis on getting kids active,” said Sherri Rigg, director of marketing for Jamba Hawaii. “It would be difficult for someone to commit time and energy to activities such as exercising – which we know is linked to healthy lifestyles – if they are just simply trying to hold their family together.”

“We are very excited about this partnership and thankful to Jamba Juice for helping us in this way,” said Christina Andersson, clinical director at Maui Youth & Family Services.
